I thought I would share a few photos my mother has taken. Most, if not all of the photo's you see on this blog were taken my my mother. My father isn't one for snaps, and that's why you don't see if much in my photo's. Today's post is dedicated to you mom. I love you.

The Couches of Couch Horse Ranch

The Barn at Couch Horse Ranch

Mike and Carrie, I hope that you don't mind that I put you on my blog. I will also be putting your web site in my favorites list as well.
To everyone else, the Couch Horse Ranch is a family owned ranch here in North West Arkansas. There are many clinicians in the area, but we have found that the Couch family and Ranch are more then trainers and ranchers, but friends. My parents feel that they could not have found a better trainer for my equine instruction.
The horses are well cared for, and the facilities are top notch. Carrie, my trainer is patient with me even on days when I don't know my left from my right, and when I just can't seem to get into that trot. Those who are looking into either getting into riding, or thinking of getting their children into riding, should keep in mind the chemistry between the student and trainer. It's not all in how much you pay, or how well the facilities are, its about people and the Couch Ranch are our kind of people.
"At Couch Horse Ranch we put our horses and rider safety first. We stress that we do not break horses!! We Train our horses with love and care;we want them to love being with us as much as we love being with them. " Carrie Couch of Couch Horse Ranch

Buster; My Calf, My Buddy

My cousin Rusty runs cattle on our farm. One day daddy and I were on our way home from a long day when we spotted a cow laying on her side in the field near the barn. Daddy looked at the cow and it would seem that she was barley alive. From around the barn came a beautiful calf who sat next to his mama.

Days later we learned from Rusty that the cow had passed. But what are we going to do with the calf? Rusty's mother had been ill and he had no time to care for him, so he gave my mother the calf. My mother soon found that it is a lot of work nursing a calf. He needed to be bottle fed twice daily until he could be grain fed. The first day was easy; well somewhat easy, as my mother had to get the calf to trust her enough so that she could feed him. We were all surprised that she had him eating out of her hands in less then 20 minutes. Over the weekend we would warm his bottle and feed him. There was no chasing him around the barn, because he knew what we were there for.

I made the mistake of naming him Buster. Rusty asked, "How's the calf" To which I replied, "His name is buster." Rusty could only chuckle and reply; "Going to be pretty hard to sale him if you name him."

Mommy and Me

I thought I would start with a tribute to my mother. A somewhat country girl herself, if it weren't for her; and you too dad, I wouldn't be where I would be.
Thanks mom for being my maid, my cook, my chauffeur, my teacher and my friend.
I love you.
